Architecture Awards

The Australian Institute of Architects's online architecture gallery 'architecture.com.au projects' is the largest online databases of architecture in Australia.

The site is based around the prestigous
Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Awards, which have been running since 1981. The gallery currently contains just approximately 2,000 projects that have been entered in the awards program from 1981 onwards.

These consist of:

  • National Award Winners from 1981 to present

  • Chapter (state) Award Winners from 1996* to present

  • All entrants from 1999 to present

*Only Chapter Award Winners eligible for judging at the national level are included

To make the site user-friendly, projects displayed have been arranged in four major categories: Residential, Public Buildings, Commercial and Urban Design. These categories (which are also divided into sub-categories) are based around the project type not the awards category a project was entered into. For this reason, a church that may have been entered into a Conservation Award category will be found in Public Buildings/Religious.

The gallery also contains links to the Australian Institute of Architects's popular '
Find an architect' service.
